Get Gecko OS as a channel!

One of the big reasons people despised firmware 3.3 was because it cut out the Twilight Hack and blocked Trucha Signed discs. Well, earlier this week we got ourselves a new Twilight Hack, but we still needed a way to run our Trucha discs on 3.3.

Fear no more, because we now have a BETA release of Gecko OS. Now as an official BETA, you can now run your games region free. Online has been tested and working too!

This is the first public beta to allow people to try out WiiRD (Wii Remote Debugger). It also has a new Gecko Region Free engine which will boot nearly all games, even from the homebrew channel.

SD card features and USB Gecko client commands are disabled in the version as they are unfinished but I wanted to release a version of WiiRD / GeckoRF engine due to large amount of requests and the fact Gecko RF 1.5 had too many bugs :)

The package comes as a app which can be launched with the homebrew channel, also a DOL file is included if you want to make trucha based DVDs or custom channels

And what is this WiiRD you’ve been hearing about?

WiiRD is a game hackers dream app, with a large number of cool tools you can use. The official website for it is http://wiird.l0nk.org/wp/ and will also be posted and supported at http://www.usbgecko.com/forums

Documentation for WiiRD including the new cheat code type technical documentation is always included in the WiiRD archive download file.

Included in the download is a file that can be launched from the Homebrew Channel, or a WAD you can install to the Wii main menu. You don’t need both. Choose whichever is more convenient to you.

no. this allows you to play games you buy from different regions on your PAL wii. this was released due to the 3.3 not allowing you to use the free loader so i could not play ssbb. but this program is really good and works perfectly :)

can anyone confirm after 3.3 install that the wad installer and uninstaller channels that I installed before updating to 3.3 will work or will I have to use homebrew channel or new twilight hack

As far as I know, you can’t install wads from within 3.3 because the trucha sign bug also covered wads that used the same hack. If you don’t have the homebrew channel installed, I believe you have to use the twilight hack to launch anything.

Problem… I installed the Gecko OS .wad using both the WAD installer channel and also the wad installer through the homebrew channel. Both times the new Gecko OS channel is installed but when I select and run it I get a ‘This channel can’t be used’ error.
The boot.elf works directly from the Homebrew channel and Gecko OS works perfectly from this but I would love to be able to run it directly as a channel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I have 3.3e
