For those who are in Canada, a new bill is passed today which might affect most of you

It’s official, the Canadian DMCA has made the jump for the Order Paper to its First Reading in the House of Commons. Prentice finally made good on his promises to countless US trade groups, corporations and lobbyists and presented this bill with no public consultation with the Canadian public. Now it’s the public’s turn to voice their displeasure with “Made in America” laws being introduced in the Canadian Legislature.

good thing i got a mod chip on my wii and whole lot of other stuff from Canada while I could. I hate US lobbying. Its that damn ESA.

i would assume that modchip stores in canada will close their stores soon due to this. so they might be racking their sales up soon and closing

This is the thing: It's a bill. In Canada, it won't be enforced. Technically, you can get sued $500 per downloaded song if they wanted to, but they don't

Even if it is illegal people will still sell modchips. Its illegal to download a whole lot of stuff but people still do it without getting introuble. You can't crack down on every single person.
