Hmm, saw an instructable somewhere about fixing the psp cross controller, gotta look fer it, I did the ol' Pringles top fix on mah 360 controller, works beautifully.

pringles top fix?? i need to look that up..

Yeah, basically open up yer 360 controller, cut out a round piece of plastic, pringles top, NES plastic sleeve, something about that thickness, the same size as the cross (its round on the inside), cut out a small circle in the center (you'll see why when you open it) and place it between the cross and the rubber membrane. When you put it back together, it should be pretty solid, mine makes a slight click when you move it.

Now, this guy sanded the controller to make sure there was plenty of room, but I didn't have to do any sanding at all, worked just fine as it.

You might as well just open the controller and readjust the actual D-Pad. Buff it up and give it some rigidity and sensitivity.
SRSLY though, joysticks are the best thing to come to modern gaming. N64 FTW!
