NES-Hacks: Your home for Wii and DS Hacking!

I just purchased my Wii last week from gamestop and upgraded the firmware to 3.3u without acknowledging that twilight hack wouldn't work afterwards.  Yesterday I tried the twilight hack with a SD card and a backup disk of zelda but the disc was unreadable and I had no previous save in my Wii's integrated memory for Zelda Twilight Princess.   I'm aware that their are ways to downgrade firmware through Homebrew Channel  however how would I go about it if I can't even get homebrew installed.  I was thinking of borrowing my brothers Twilight Princess disc from him then giving it a shot but according to numerous places Twilight Hacks save states are patched off in 3.3u.  So my question to you all is would it be better for me to exchange my wii before the 30-day return policy ends or is there still a way around this.  I would really like to use homebrew.  I originally bought this wii for the intent of installing a modchip.  So far i'm not 100% positive which Wii chip I have on my wiidrive however according to http://www.wiidrives.com/list my serial LU5919XXXX [2] is a 100% chance that the chipset is GC2-D2E. I've already taken the initiative to order a triwing screwdriver I just have to wait for it to get in for it to be 100% positive.  Any thoughts?
