Mod chip question....

I have cyclowiz v2 installed on my wii.
It's one of the launch versions so I didn't need to cut any legs or install 50 wires.

Problems that I encountered.

I couldn't get the switch to work even if my life depended on it.

Result, no super mario galaxy and cool nintendo games that came afterward.

Well, my wife has been bugging the crap out of me to do something about it so I guess I will for x-mas. wink

Which chip should I get?
One that I don't have to get the switch for. (god knows I hate them by now.)

Chip that is somewhat updated so that I don't have to worry about updating for a while.
Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Mod chip question....

Moved to help.

Alright... WNB here would say D2Pro V9...

thats a good chip,yes.

But there is this new Wiikey 2 which looks promising..

but you are on the old version of Wii... just get a Wiikey. Easy no hassel install, no shorts required, 6 solder points, works with all current games. Wiikey+Clip and you are set (As long you dont have a D2B with cut legs). Oh and the Wiikey is fairly cheap compared to those other chips. I believe you can get a Wiikey v1 for around $20 and with a clip presoldered on, i believe something like $40 or so.

Re: Mod chip question....

yep I would normally suggest that you get a D2Pro smile

but on this occasion I'm going to agree with KWG

Re: Mod chip question....

Its the Wiikey soldered onto the V3 Clip which will go on DMS/D2A/D2B (Non cut pins) boards. One of the easiest chip/clip combos to use.

Re: Mod chip question....

how did you attempt to install the switch anyways? I mean, i see your point in wanting a new chip but since you already have one installed, just get the switch working and update the firmware

Re: Mod chip question....

What is this clip thing that kwg is talking about?

I found a wiikey using the site you have provided but wasn't able to find a clip thing...

http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/Wii … -p-12.html

edit. silly me...
I found the clip combo.

http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/Wii … -p-12.html

but it still didn't answer my initial question. With this clip, I know I don't have to solder anything but does this mean that I don't need to solder any switches or anything of sort? Will I be able to just upgrade via dvd with this? Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Mod chip question....

install... no soldering... no switches...

the only thing you will need is the update disc (1.9s) via dvd and update it.. voila.. done

Re: Mod chip question....

keep in mind though... on the site.. you MUST choose the option to have them solder the chip onto the clip for you for an extra 5 bucks.. or itll come separately

Re: Mod chip question....

I never use a clip, even though I done it for a living I actually enjoy soldering.

Re: Mod chip question....

Quick question again before I purchase.

Switch is there to disable the chip before the update.
How will the clip work same way? I don't get it.
I heard that it comes with 1.9b and I'm thinking about to update to your recommendation of 1.9s.

I just don't want to run into the problems that I did with the cyclowiz. (that's the main reason of purchasing this chip anyhow.)

King, what chip are you using?

Re: Mod chip question....

KinG is using a Wiikey.
I am using a Wiikey.

Also the Wiikey is not like the clycowiz where you need a switch to install an update. All you do is burn the update to a dvd, pop in the update dvd, run it and follow the instructions. It should install without any problems.
