DS Flash Card Help

Okay,

So I am buying three DS Flash Cards.

Two for my younger brothers (aged 8/11), and one for myself.

I will be buying the CycloDS for myself, however, I dont think it is necessary that I need to spend this much money on them if ALL they will be doing is playing DS roms (not emus, not GBA roms, just DS roms).

So... My dilema is which one should I get them? All they will do is play DS roms, so I think I have come to the conclusion that the R4DS will suffice. This is only $50 aus compared to paying $70 for a M3DS, or $100+ for a CycloDS.

I am not worried about purchasing fake R4s, as the site I am buying from is very reputable and only sells genuine products (www.ozmodchips.com.au).

Also, will the R4 be able to play future roms (do they upgrade firmware of roms to stop them being backed up)?

And finally, I think a 2gb memory card should be enough for them? if a game averages around 50mb, they should be able to get around 40 games?

If anyone could help me with all that, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: DS Flash Card Help

Hi Laps

The only problem with the R4 is that it is really eady to delete games off the card which can be a problem if it's for young kids. DSTT could be an alternative card but I'm not sure what it's system is like so I don't really know how easy it is to delete games straight off the card.

2Gb is plenty

Re: DS Flash Card Help

yea i think R4 will be suffice. Im using that too. Unfortunately for my case i'd get a fake R4, when i flip my NDS, the game just continue, no sleep mode.

I think most flashcard nowdays are up to date, if you can update the firmware they'd provided, then you can play future game. Mine is ok with Kingdom Hearts, never tried Mario and Luigi Bowser's story.

Average game is about 64mb to 128mb. The most current game biggest would be 256mb.

Im not sure if it is my R4 or the ROM that give problems, the cutscene sometimes hangs for KH. The gameplay was smooth.

Re: DS Flash Card Help

I would go with the DSTT it has a simple gui and it requires multiple button presses to delete games off the card. yeah and 2gb is more than enough space.

Debbie, we're going to need some law books. With pictures this time.

Re: DS Flash Card Help

And by using all these roms you can save games, play each other etc just like it was the real game?

And they dont sell DSTT anyways, so cant get that sad

its only an extra $15 for the m3ds + rumble pack... Is that the go then...?

Re: DS Flash Card Help

man you should go here http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/fla … ry-combos/ this will give you the same stuff for like $20 less. and they are a reputable dealer. I had an R4 and they haven't updated there firmware since august of 2008 so I wouldn't recommend one of them. Get an Edge of an M3 for your bros and splurge on a CycloDS for yourself.

Re: DS Flash Card Help

Alright now I'm in confusion as well. Apparently the newest games cant run on my flashcard (r4) and is a clone. Any recommendation for a better card so the card can bypass the AP? As well as playing GBA rom on Slot-1?

How bout DSi LL flashcard?
