D2Pro team first to hack the new "Unmoddable" Drives

http://wiinewz.com/images/news/d2pro.jpg

D2pro Team comments on the new "unmoddable" drives on the Wii. Looks like they got backups running. This is great news

Since the appearance of the so-called 'd2nothing' drives in the market
over the last month-or-so, a number of concerned installers have emailed us
to ask about a modding solution for when this drive becomes commonplace. At
this point, we would simply like to confirm that the d2pro team are working
on such a solution, and that we have backups running on the d2nothing
drive
. More details will be made available soon.

Mwahahaha, See even thought the two chips on the drive have been merged on to one chip the drive controller is still there meaning the wii can still be chipped. We just had to wait untill someone figured out how and I bet we can use all the older chips.

Pretty big news. It's kind of a shame that they aren't releasing more information on it, but any news is better than no news at all. Ncie find King!

Re: D2Pro team first to hack the new "Unmoddable" Drives

Hmm... but isn't the internal hardware of the DVD Drive different? I'm under the assumption that it is a different process to solder the chips to the new DVD Drive. If it is the same solder process, a firmware upgrade may be all that is necessary

To the best of my knowledge the two chips have just been intergrated in to one unit but are still seperate chips, so you just need to find the correct solder points.
