Network Connection, wired vs wireless

Hey guys.

I recently purchased myself a Wii LAN Adapter, but strangely enough it doesn't seem to go any faster than what my wired connection does (I was using FTPii on the Wii to transfer a game and FlashFXP on the PC for tests).

From my previous experiences with networkinjg, I know that a 10/100mbps connection can reach up to 9000kb/sec without a problem (this speed was achieved with my Xbox 1), however my Wii LAN Adapter only seems to be getting around 450kb/sec.

I'm thinking since it was a cheap LAN Adapter is might only be a 10mbps Adapter, would anybody agree, because I feel I should be getting bette speeds than that.

Wii (AU) w/ 2gb SD Card, Softmodded.
Xbox 1.1 (AU) w/ 250gb HDD, X2.6 CE Modchip + X2 5032 BIOS
Xbox 360 Elite (US - Not Modded)
PSP Slim TA-088 (AU) w/ 4gb Memory Stick, 5.00 M33-3 CFW, Pandora Battery.

How did you have a wired connection when you didn't have a Wii LAN Adapter

Re: Network Connection, wired vs wireless

you might get a better connection with wireless. Because with Wired connection. Its shared at whatever your connection speed is. If its a direct connection, then youll get something good. If its a wired connection through a router/switch, then its shared. If its wireless, then its not shared and can go up to whatever your Wireless router says. i hope that makes sense lol

Yea I understand what you're talking about.

The wired connection is through my Linksys WAG54G v3 Router/Gateway, and its the same configurtio as what it was to achieve those speeds on my Xbox.

I have bought another LAN Adapter though to give it another go, hopefully it was just a cheap crappy 10/10 Adapter so this supposed 10/100 should be a lot better.

For now I might just stick with my wireless, but as I am one to prefer wired connections I'll still pursue it.

USB v2.0 is capable of 480 Mbit/s or 60 MB/s transfer a second which is more than enough for the net.
