Alright, I just installed a few of these for my family. I ordered a few chips. Heres the situation from beginning to end
1st Wii: D2C
Stuck the Protection sticker to the bottom of the chip
Clipped on the v4c clip and turned it on, it got a red light and a couple clicks. No good. I then proceeded to try it a few more times thinking that it might be an alignment issue. Still no good.
Next, i opened a new chip, stuck the protection sticker on the bottom of it also, clipped it on, and voila... blue/red light blinking...
tested while it was opened.. result: passed
closed the dvd drive and screwed in the 4 screws and tested... result: passed
screwed the remaining screws and put everything back together, tested again... result: passed
put in utility disc 1.6 and updated. perfect
2nd Wii: D2C
Next Wii, tried the same chip i used on the previous wii. Same deal, red light, and clicking noises, test result: failed
bridged the CLK solder, test result: failed
jumped the J wire to the J wire from the picture below WITHOUT unsoldering the J points on the wii-clip.... turned it on and red light blinks once, got nervous, so i put a backup in. turns blue and loads.... test result: passed
tested while it was opened.. result: passed
closed the dvd drive and screwed in the 4 screws and tested... result: passed
screwed the remaining screws and put everything back together, tested again... result: passed
put in utility disc 1.6 and updated. perfect
3rd Wii: D2B with Cut Pins
Clipped on, tested... result: Passed
no issues what so ever ![]()
Overall, its not a bad chip. Still beats the crap out of the other current modchips. If the D2CKey was still around, i would definitely go for that chip as its more stable and more efficient.
