D2pro Team First to Crack “Unmoddable” Drives
January 2nd, 2009

We posted a while back about the new Wii DVD drive that had been discovered to prevent the use of all modchips (article here). That being the case, it may come as a suprise to hear that the D2Pro team (known for the D2 series of Wii Modchips) has managed to break the code for the drive, and apparently, has backups running off of the Wii!
Since the appearance of the so-called ‘d2nothing’ drives in the market
over the last month-or-so, a number of concerned installers have emailed us
to ask about a modding solution for when this drive becomes commonplace. At
this point, we would simply like to confirm that the d2pro team are working
on such a solution, and that we have backups running on the d2nothing
drive. More details will be made available soon.
Sounds like the team is trying to keep a low profile on this new “solution”. We will update you if we hear anything else from the team.
