Developer DragonMinded has recently announced the release of Dragon Media player version 0.13 Alpha 2. Among other updates since the previous release, this latest build now carries m3u and pls playlist support. Here are the other changes that have been implemented in this version:

Fixed core dump on loading pls files.

Added m3u/pls playlist support.
Fixed a few memory leaks (switching themes and playing songs should be more stable).
Fixed a few misc stability issues.
DragonMinded further notes that trying to launch this media player homebrew with a USB keyboard or LAN adapter will cause a freeze. This issue is expected to be fixed in the next release. Well, we know that bushing and company has a plan for MplayerWii to be implemented with DVD support on unmodded Wiis. We have yet to see it but we all know bushing is true to his word, so expect that to come. Until then, we should enjoy more releases of this media player. See changes below.
CHANGES:
-mount/unmount the SD card and/or USB drive so you can swap them out without reloading MPlayerWii (thanks to rodries)
-added USB read-ahead cache (thanks to rodries)
-added preliminary samba network share support (thanks to scip)
-fixed startup crash when a usblan or usb keyboard is attached
-added network streaming cache
-added video scaling with the nunchuk (use joystick to move, Z button to stretch and C to reset)
-added configuration file (put in the SD root folder)
-new ascii logo by sensah
installation
- unzip the package into the “apps” folder on your SD card.
- place video and audio files on the root folder of your SD card.
- launch MPlayerWii through the Homebrew Channel.

DragonMedia Player has been updated. It now supports MP3 playlist (Which are in m3u or pls format) and a few other bugs that were fixed.

farter, the developer for the Wii Media player called GeeXbox has updated his app. This update has a few changes and a couple new features. See below for changes
* NTSC/PAL autodetection (supposed to work)
* improved support for widescreen mode
* aspect ratio software compensation support
* improved Wiimote connection/reconnection routine
* user-friendlier handling of boot failure.

DragonMedia Player has been updated with a couple of new features and bug fixes. One of the new feature that i like about this one is a loading screen. I was tired of seeing the blank screen thinking if its running or not.

Added load screen for impatient noobs.
Added ability to change themes from menu.
Added more options to home menu.
Integrated USB patches (no guarantee that it works).
Fixed 24bit flac support (note that SD card is the limit for playing back).
Settings now get saved from home menu.

GeeXbox for Wii, a media center for the Wii has been updated… one of the biggest update for this app is the support for Bluetooth… stream videos via bluetooth..
20080717: 0.1alpha0. Feature addition release.
Based on whiite-linux-0.1a, which has USB host controller enabled. USB and network related functions of GeeXboX are therefore included in this release.
‘Bugs’ (keypressing and OSD color) in previous version no longer there.

Yet another media player update for the Wii. MPlayerWii works very similar to DragonMedia player. Here are the changes
-added USB storage support (USB reading is dead slow unfortunately, only good for MP3 files)
-added volume controls (Up/Down buttons on the wiimote)
-added wiimote buttons repeat during playback
-added preliminary test network streaming (shoutcast and mms)
-longer filename display in the file selection screen
-fix for widescreen aspect ratio (uses the Wii display settings)
-more audio playback fixes

DMP has yet again updated. This time it has a couple added features along with more supported files

This is a native port of MPlayer to the Nintendo Wii. It is currently in VERY EARLY stage.
You’ll need to have the Nintendo Homebrew Channel installed to use this application.
installation:
————-
-unzip the package into the “apps” folder on your SD card.
-place video and audio files on the root folder of your SD card.
-launch MPlayerWii through the Homebrew Channel.

-added svenp’s libfat patches (better read speed on SD cards)

With more and more Media Players for the Wii coming out, which one will you choose? So far, i’ve seen DragonMedia Player constantly being updated, which means bugs are constantly being worked on (Which is a good thing). Test it out and see if it fits you, since there’s plenty of Media Players available for the Wii.
