Preloader project was officially terminated. but luckily , priiloader , originated from preloader , was published that has improved some functions of patching, such as

    • patch memory just like StartPatch or Preloader. hacks.ini should be on the sd root(only once, they get copied to NAND).
    • save wii from banner & other kind of bricks that aren’t ios/boot2/nand corruption related
    • start something else than system menu on power up (a dol file, bootmii, homebrew channel)

The changes of the priiloader is given below.

    • Change and fixed IOS Stub detection. All known IOS’ are detected like they should. thank you Attila
    • Changed Autoboot setting so it would start system menu when having just updated/installed Priiloader
    • Fixed Hacks.ini bug when it was made in linux (or any ini that doesn’t have windows’ \r\n newlines and uses \n instead)
    • Fixed Bootstate handling. we should now handle all known bootstates correctly(“invalid” bootstate 255 included). all unknown bootstates load priiloader instead
    • Fixed Bug with USB drives that could crash System menu
    • Fixed the Wii Blue Light on wiimail issue (when standby, forgot to merge the light init code from phpgeek)
    • Fixed Background issues when changing colour and not saving settings
    • Fixed various video related bugs ( out of screen text, text on top of the other, … )
    • Fixed some ES_Identify Bugs (in a hacky way) when not using system menu IOS for system menu
    • Reload Hacks completly when LoadHacks() is called and hacks were already loaded once
    • Added the checksum function from priiloader to the installer. if the checksum fails it asks the user what to do. it checks when:
    • Copying (installation of priiloader) the System menu app
    • Restoring (uninstall of priiloader) the System menu app
    • after Writing the Priiloader app (the checking installation part)
    • Added basic HBC Stub Loading. if priiloader (or a dol loaded by priiloader) crashes you can press reset to load HBC
    • Added possibility to boot System Menu if no wiimote is detected. after 15 seconds priiloader booted press reset to boot system menu
    • Added a check when loading/installing binaries to see if the SD/USB is still present or not

Lots of files to download ? Batch Downloader for Wii may help you downloading all the files you need. Wiitch reads from a text file a list of urls and then download them to selected device. ( and it’s done).

Just to remind all of you that this version of Wiitch DOESN’T support NTFS file system. Please format your memory stick using FAT

    Dop-IOS MOD v.10.1

    December 30th, 2009

    Posted by ansel

IOS fakesigning is one of the process in wii to enable some homebrews . so Dop-IOS helps you to install which IOS you want. compare with the modded version, modded version adds GC support and the authors do include more function than the original one. You may see the changelog to see what’s going on in this latest version.

  • Fixed a typo on the main menu causing serious confusion
  • Added a bit of code to display error messages for an infinitely longer amount of time so people can easily read them
  • Please do not install this app if you are not familar with IOS functions. only IOS 249 and modded IOS can be entirely used (as IOS 249 has trucha bug)

    Posted by skoot

Hey everyone, Skoot here with a nice, simple tutorial on Softmodding your Wii. This one is for all firmwares 4.2 and below.  (Note: If you currently have a firmware below 4.2, IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE.)

This covers the basics: Installing The Homebrew Channel, as well as BootMii to provide some protection against bricking your console.  This is only the beginning step in completely softmodding your console.

    Here’s what you’ll need:

    - A standard SD card formatted to FAT32. SDHC cards WILL NOT work (Note: if you want to back up the memory on your Wii, 520mb will be needed, so a 1GB SD card is recommended).

    That’s it! Simple, huh?

    Phase 1 – Preparation:
Alright, for the sake of simplicity, make sure that there is nothing else on the SD card.

-FIRMWARE 3.0-4.1: Download THIS .ZIP FILE and extract its contents to the SD card.

-FIRMWARE 4.2: Download and extract THIS .ZIP FILE to the SD card.

Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to proceed!

    Phase 2 – Installing

-Put the SD card into the Wii and turn it on.

    - Go to the Wii options menu, select Data Management–>Wii–>Channels–>SD Card. (Note: If your wii freezes after clicking SD Card, you’ll have to turn the Wii off and on again.)

At this point, you’ll be prompted to “load boot.dol/elf?” Click “Yes” and it’ll begin the HackMii installer.
    - HackMii will run tests and, depending on your Wii, it’ll tell you whether or not you’ll be able to install to boot2. Even if it says you can’t, don’t worry.  Press “A” to continue.

    -First, install “The Homebrew Channel”.
    -Then, go to “BootMii”

Depending on whether you’re able to install to boot2, There are different steps to take.

If you CAN install to boot2(Best protection against bricking your system):
    -Select “Prepare the SD card”.
    -Select “Install BootMii as boot2″.

If you CANNOT install to boot2(No protection against bricking your system):
    -Select “Install bootmii as IOS”.

That covers the basics. Make sure to clear everything off of the SD card when you’re finished, and pick up with my next tutorial, Right here.

    ninchdl-listext

    November 18th, 2009

    Posted by The_Wii_Nes_Boy

ninchdl-listext by yellowstar6 is a utility to decrypt, decompress, read and dump info and URLs from Nintendo Channel download lists, either locally from HD, or directly from the servers.

wc24pubk.mod from Nintendo Channel is required. This is identical for all regions and versions of Nintendo Channel. This can be dumped from the Nintendo Channel data directory on Wii NAND. ninchdl-listext requires wc24decrypt.

This is stored at /title/00010001/484154xx/data/wc24pubk.mod, where xx is hex region code. 45 is E, 4a is J, 50 is P.

In US Nintendo Channel content 00000018.app, the WC24 RSA public key is located at 0x32b938 and the WC24 AES key is located at 0x32ba38. In JP Nintendo Channel content 0000001f.app, the WC24 RSA public key ia located at 0x2f9670 and the WC24 AES key is located at 0x2f9770. To create the wc24pubk.mod file from these keys, copy the public key to offset 0, length 0×100 bytes. Add zero bytes, length 0×100. Copy the AES key to offset 0×200, length 0×10. Add zero bytes, length 0×10. The AES key can be copied to a separate file, but this requires an extra parameter.

Help displayed when run without parameters:

    Usage: ninchdl-listext <wc24dl.vff> <options>

Input can be a compressed dl list as well.

    Alternate usage:

    ninchdl-listext <country code> <language code> <region char> <version> <wc24pubk.mod> <options>

See either source code or google code wmb-asm NintendoChannel wiki page for list of country and language codes. region char must be either u, e, or j. wc24pubk.mod is the filename for the NinCh WC24 keys.(Can also be the 16 byte AES key.) The default is wc24pubk.mod if this is omitted.

    Options:

-l<ID> List titles with a title type ID or console model ID. If the ID is ommitted, the whole title list is listed.
