StartPatch v.4.3

July 26th, 2010

Posted by ansel

Using v.4.3 system software would be painful as you can’t load homebrews. Aquilino broke the ice that v.4.3 can be hacked and play import titles.

Before you apply this patch , use bootmii and dump the NAND data. In case of crash you can recover your console.

Feature of StartPatch v.4.3

  • Region Free Wii Games – Allows you to Play Import Titles.
  • IOS Selection – Allows you to select which IOS you would like to use.
  • Disable HAXX, DVDX, RZDx Checks – Disables the System Menu from blocking Homebrew.
  • Block Disc Updates – Blocks updates which have been embedded in Discs.
  • Block Online Updates – Prevents online updates being installed.
  • Region Free Channels – Allow installation of any region Channels.
  • Region Free GC Games No VM Patch – Removes region restrictions on Gamecube games.
  • Remove NoCopy Protection (Need To Install ALL Five) – Removes the Save File Copy Protection, which prevents Save Files from being copied to SD Cards.
  • Move Disc Channel – Enables the Disc Channel to be moved.
  • No Menu BG Music – Removes the System Menu’s background music.
  • Recovery Mode 4th GC DPad UP – Allows you to enter the Wii’s Recovery Mode easily.
  • Remove Diag Disc Check – Remove Diagnostic Disc check.
  • Auto-Press A At Health Screen – Automatically presses “A” for you at the Health Screen.
  • Replace Health Screen with Backmenu - No longer displays black/white health warning screen, so no need to press A, it will go straight to the channels screen.

    Wii Firmware Updater v4.3b

    June 26th, 2010

    Posted by ansel

Waninkoko has just picked up the pace of updating the firmware updater. but unfortunately , the system updater doesn’t support 4.3 currently-  A firmware blocks the access of homebrew channel and firmware updaters.

This application allows you to update your console firmware updates available installed most important (IOS , System Menu , new channels …). The application prevents any unwanted application installed , in addition to various optional patch to add new functionalities ( eg Trucha bug ).

    *Update
Firmware Updater v4.3 has a bug when patching the System Menu of the firmware for the USA and JAP consoles , so the homebrew channel are deleted after the firmware update . This version brings the error and corrected and should work fine on a console from any region.

If you’re using a European Wii and you’ve used the version v4.3 NO need to use this version. Sorry for the inconvenience that may have caused.

Perhaps you need IOS to patch your system, the app may help you a bit. but DON’T upgrade your system software to v4.3

    Riivolution

    March 21st, 2010

    Posted by the_wii_nes_boy

Riivolution is an on-the-fly game patcher for use with retail discs. It allows users to place content on their SD or USB devices, which will be read by the game during regular play.

It can be used for custom textures, music, levels, memory patches, game translations, and more!

And as it says it can only be used on retail discs….. lol, I’m sure well see a patched version out soon to allow us to use it with backup games as well :D More info below and a video of it in action after that.

    Install

To install Riivolution, extract the apps folder from the download onto an SD card and run Riivolution from the Homebrew Channel. Bannerbomb can also be used.

Once Riivolution is installed, you will need some patches to start playing with! Check out the Patch Templates to start, or read the FAQ.

    FAQ

    Q. Does Riivolution work with my “backups” or USB loaders?

    A. No. And that’s not a bug.

    Q. Does Riivolution work with my PAL/NTSC/JAP Wii/game?

    A. Yes.

    Q. What IOS does it need installed?

    A. Riivolution requires an updated IOS37; if you’re on System Menu 4.2 you should be good. If it’s not installed or the proper version, it will be installed the first time Riivolution is       run.

Alternatively, you can also use NUSD or DOP-IOS to install it – with all patches disabled.

    Q. Does Riivolution work with Game X?

    A. I probably haven’t played it, but yes, it should; try it. If it doesn’t work, report it – some games known to reload IOS will require specific patches to work.

Games that have specifically been tested include Fatal Frame 4, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Rock Band, among others.

    Q. What does the “Install” button do?

    A. It will install a Riivolution channel onto your System Menu for easy access. This can always be uninstalled.

    Q. Can I use Ocarina / Gecko codes with it?

    A. Normally, Riivolution just supports direct memory patches. However, Riivolution supports a patching method that can be used with the Gecko OS code handler.

    Read more about that here.

    Q. Can I add new files to a disc with Riivolution?

    A. Not yet.

    Q. Uhh, how do I use this?

    A. As a user, you need to either download patch packages made by someone else or make your own.

A basic template and packages for common games can be found at the Patch Templates section. For a more detailed explanation about Riivolution’s patch XML files, check out the  instructions.

    Q. Can I see it in action?

    A. Sure.

    Catch up!

    March 17th, 2010

    Posted by the_wii_nes_boy

So here’s a quick update on the latest releases to the Wii scene over the last week!

    BrawlStats beta3

BrawlStats is a Wii application that will have to be ran after a Super Smash Bros. Brawl session. It will store automatically on your SD your results and then you will be able to navigate freely through a clean GUI that will show you a lot of information that Brawl doesn’t store (or doesn’t show). It can be like a database of your Brawl matches.

    Download

    OpenBOR v3.0.2726

This is an official port of the OpenBOR (aka Beats of Rage) beat em up game engine to the Wii by SX and Plombo.

    Download

    Geckoreader v1.0

GeckoReader is a program to be run under Windows that will open a command prompt and output what it reads from a USB gecko. You must have the USB gecko installed, set up the COM drivers, and have .NET 2.0 for this to work properly. Then whatever buffer is sent from the Wii/Gamecube should pop up on the screen.

    v1.0

    * Alternate methods to determine COM port (including WIILOAD environment variable and user entry)
    * Different methods to control the output, like clear window, log to output file, include timestamps, and more
    * Send a file (with optional arguments) to the Wii
    * Quick resend the previous send file including arguments, easy for testing
    * Possibility to send a file from the Wii to the PC, when using libgecko.a
    * Textual progressbar when sending or receiving data

    Download

    WiiRadio v0.5

    Version 0.5

    DOP-Mii v12

    March 7th, 2010

    Posted by ansel

DOP-Mii originally known as DOP-IOS MOD. This application may let you use any IOS , or even fixing / editing the wii menu. There is a long list for the latest update.

Before applying this patch , make sure you have bootmii installed in wii. You can recover your system in case of crash.

    IOS Menu Changes

    • You can now select what version of an IOS you want to install. Including Stubbed IOSes if you want to revirginize your Wii.
      • NOTE: Just because the option is available to install any IOS version. Not all Wiis will support the lower IOS versions.
    • Uninstall IOS feature
    • Added BC & MIOS Support
    • Menu now driven by a homegrown title database. It now knows what IOS versions can have what patches applied to them.
    • IOSes can now be installed into empty Slots. To perform the install Hold A then press +.

    Channels Menu

    • Can now be installed via WAD. Menu will tell you the WAD Filename it requires. If the Channel requires 2 different titles it will display both WAD filenames.

    System Menu

    • You can now upgrade or downgrade to ANY System Menu version.
      • NOTE It is not recommended to downgrade below 3.2 if you have a newer Wii. Rule of thumb is if you can’t install BootMii as Boot2 then you should not go below 3.2.
    • Installer will check to make sure you have the correct IOS with the correct IOS Version installed before installing the selected system menu. If the IOS is not installed, it will prompt and install the IOS.
    • If Priiloader is installed, it will temporarily backup Priiloader. It will prompt you at the end of the System Menu installation if you would like to restore Priiloader.
    • Can now be installed via WAD. Menu will tell you the WAD Filename it requires. If IOS is required it will also provide the IOS WAD filename.

    Boot2 Menu

    • Yes there is now Boot2 Upgrade Support. We were requested to add it in. I would like to give a special thanks to Bushing for providing me the ES_ImportBoot code to ensure that Boot2 gets updated properly. If you are already at Boot2v4 you will not get the option to upgrade as you are already at the latest version.
      • NOTE: If you have BootMii installed as Boot2. Beyond our control it will wipe it out. You will need to reinstall BootMii as Boot2 after Boot2 has been upgraded.
      • NOTE: As a reminder, when your boot2 is upgraded, it CANNOT be downgraded.

    Other Changes

    • Removed FakeSign check for TBR Restore so that if people have a corrupt IOS36 they can reinstall it.
    • WiiMote LEDs now flash during installation. This can be disabled via the config file.
    • Wii LEDs now flash during installation. This can be disabled via the config file.
    • Removed USB 2.0 checking from SysCheck.
    • Because of new Title Database. SysCheck now reports on all Installed NON-STUBBED IOSes.
    • SysCheck will now ask where you want to save the report.
    • Added a config file with the following tags.
      • alternateURL: This will allow you to specify an alternate url to try downloading the NUS files. If it cannot find the file or has troubles connecting to the alternate url then it will fallback to NUS. If the files are cache it will try and load the cached files before attemping to download from ALT or NUS.
      • cacheFolder: You can now specify where the files are to be cached. This can be stored on either on SD or USB. If the setting is blank or does not exist. No Caching will take place.
        • Example: sd:/nus/{TITLEID1}/{TITLEID2}/v{VERSION}
        • Example: usb:/nus/{TITLEID1}/TITLEID2}/v{VERSION}
      • defaultIOS: You can now specify what the default IOS will be when it shows the initial IOS Selection Screen.
      • wiiMoteLeds: On = WiiMote LEDs will flash during installations. To disable set the config to Off
      • wiiLeds: On = Wii Disc LEDs will flash during installations. To disable set the config to Off
      • TAG Definitions
        • {TITLEID1} : if TitleId is 0000000100000024. TITLEID1 is 00000001
        • {TITLEID2} : if TitleId is 0000000100000024. TITLEID2 is 00000024
