Geckoreader

October 21st, 2009

Posted by ansel

a small utility from  r-win / giantpune has just been released in air and the app may read the information from USB Gecko. Before using this software you may have .NET 2.0 framework installed in PC. (of course USB gecko as well)

Simply to say: this apps helps you to control the configuration in USB gecko via the command prompt and you have to familiarize the command of USB gecko before using that

Fed up searching the net for that all important IOS so you can play you rgame? Well now you can grab IOS files straight off of big N‘s update servers? NUSD is a PC utility for doing just that, you can download, pack and decryt for you.
Please have a look at the READ ME! file that is in the rar file before using this app.

Usage

This program requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Source is included if you desire to port it away from this prerequisite.

Load the program, and enter a title ID and optionally a specific version number. Title IDs can be found in the Title database.

Check whether you wish to Pack the title into a WAD, and whether the title is for the Wii or DSi. Note that DSi titles cannot be packed into WADs.

Check whether you wish to Decrypt the contents. This will create separate “.app” files.

Run the download, and you should be presented with the downloaded files and optionally a packed WAD in a folder named after the title ID you chose. All folders/files are saved in the directory that the main program is in.

System WADs can be installed using any normal installer.

WBFS Manager 2.2

April 15th, 2009

Posted by The_Wii_Nes_Boy

A user over at WiiNewz by the name of AlexDP has updated his popular WBFS application for Windows. This is great news for you users out there who are using this cool app. The libwbds delete bug has been corrected and there are other great new features as well which have been added. The entire change log and add-ons can be viewed in the Source.

UPDATE:
An in-place update had been done to address the following problems so please redownload and reinstall:
-Fixed the libwbfs delete bug.
-Added functionality to help debug the “crash on startup” situations, namely what tommyv and kruy are facing.
-Added Spanish language support, coutesy of dgtor.

UPDATE:
Replaced the two download links with a new set with two additional features:
-Automatic cover downloading (You will be prompted the first time you run the program if you want to enable or disable this. You can also change this setting later from the Edit->Download Covers from Web menu). Please be a bit patient, it takes a couple of seconds to download as the site is somewhat slow. While it’s downloading you’ll see a placeholder image which will be automatically updated once the download is complete.
-Region code information
-Changed default location for covers to My DocumentsWBFS Manager Covers for better UAC compliance.

Fixes (2.2):
-Kept error messages from appearing when adding multiple files. If an error occurs, the entry will be marked with a red error symbol in the Games to Add list and a tooltip with the error message will appear if you hover the mouse over the icon.

Changes (2.2):
-Added multilingual support (currently only French, courtesy of TheCrach), contact me if you’d like to add support for your language.
-Added Hombrew Channel creation (not completely tested).
-Added Cover support. Hover mouse over an entry to see the cover.
-Now defaults the selected drive in the drive combo box to the last used drive.
-Item counts for both lists.
-Added Check for Updates to Help menu. Currently only links to WBFS Manager blog which will list updates. Plan to implement proper updater later to help everyone keep up to date.

NUS Downloader

April 8th, 2009

Posted by nedthehead

Have you every been directed to find a .wad update from Nintendo? Distributing these .wads is illegal, but if you need them (or any other IOS) you can now download them directly from Nintendo’s server with WB3000′s new tool. The NUS Downloader directly accesses Nintendo’s servers, so you can pick and choose what you need:

Load the program, and enter a title ID and optionally a specific version number. Title IDs can be found in the Title database.

Check whether you wish to Pack the title into a WAD, and whether the title is for the Wii or DSi. Note that DSi titles cannot be packed into WADs.

Run the download, and you should be presented with the downloaded files and optionally a packed WAD in a folder named after the title ID you chose. All folders/files are saved in the directory that the main program is in.

System WADs can be installed using any normal installer.

There are several reasons to use this program.

  • Avoid unnecessary pirating of System WADs (IOS modules, System Menus, etc.)
  • Obtain a specific version of a System Title (Menu 3.2U, etc.)
  • Simplification of download and packing process.

What this does NOT do:

  • Package VC/WiiWare/Anything needing an individual ticket.
  • Decrypt contents. No common-key needed.

AlexDP over at WiiNewz has released this very useful app. Now with Waninkoko’s USB Loader out this app will make life a little easier and let you access your ISOs that are stored on the drive you are using with ease.

Wii Backup File System Manger 1.0 (WBFS Manager)
Written by Alex

Note: There is no shared code with the other wbfs_win GUI apps that have been released.
The wbfs_win.exe from the wbfs_win_delta release however is being used by this application, mainly because the source code for it was so tightly coupled and unflexible that I though it better to do it this way for now and possibly look into a cleaner, less hacky way of using the source code for that directly, based on how much interest is shown.

Note 2: Although I’ve tested this a good deal it’s only the first release and it may have some bugs. If you notice any let me know. For the most part everything should be ok as the actual work with the ISOs and WBFS drive are done in libwbfs. Of course, pulling your USB cable out while copying files isn’t going to help.

Note 3: You might notice that the application window will not respond or may turn black when your copying files. This is expected behavior and will hopefully be resolved in the next iteration.

Requirements:
-.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (the installer will prompt you to automatically download and install it if you don’t already have it.

What it does:
This application basically provides a GUI for the command line-based wbfs-win, used for accessing legal Wii Backups stored on disk drives that have been formatted to the WBFS file system.
As a front-end to wbfs-win, it provides all the basic functionality that comes with wbfs-win, including formatting to wbfs, adding backups, getting a listing of backups already on the drive, extracting ISOs from the WBFS drive, etc.

Features:
-Listing of games with titles, sizes and codes.
-Drag-and-drop support for adding multiple files at once to the WBFS drive from Windows Explorer.
-Easy to use interface which also reports available, total and used disk space at a glance.
-Batch processing of multiple ISOs.

Instructions:
-Extract and Install using setup.exe (not the .msi)
-Plug in the hard drive or USB stick.
-Run the application.
-Choose the correct drive letter.
-Click Load. (If you haven’t already formatted the disk to WBFS, you can do that by clicking format).
-You should now see any backups on the drive on the left hand side.
-You can drag and drop ISO files from Windows Explorer onto the right hand side or you can click the browse button.
-Click the Add to Drive button to copy them over to the WBFS drive.
-Enjoy!
-(You can uninstall it like any other program if you dont like it, from Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista) under the name WBFS Manager 1.0)

Future Plans:
-Using libwbfs directly to achieve greater flexiblity.
-Use a separate worker thread to improve responsiveness when doing IO operations.
-ISO library
-Additional info from ISO

DISCLAIMER (Borrowed from Waninkoko, hopefully he won’t mind )
THIS APPLICATION COMES WITH NO WARRANTY AT ALL, NEITHER EXPRESS NOR IMPLIED.
I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE IN YOUR WII CONSOLE
BECAUSE OF A IMPROPER USAGE OF THIS SOFTWARE.

Thanks to Kwiirk for the wbfs tool, Waninkoko for a good deal of things and Team Twiizers.
Hopefully I’ve given everyone thier due credit. If you feel you deserver credit for a portion of the code used in this application please let me know.
