PDF Files are becoming somewhat of the standard for storing large quantities of information. eBooks, Manuals, some Comics, and various other documents now come in the form of PDF files. With so many mobile platforms hardcoding PDF capabilities into their Operating Systems, developers are trying to tell you that it is a popular format that will be here for a while.
On that note, you always have your DS on you, so why not be able to open any PDF file at any time? That’s the idea behind JDB’s PDF Viewer for the DS. After noticing the DS did not have any PDF viewers, JDB set out to program his own Homebrew reader, and he presents you with one of the very first releases!
There is quite a list of features and development notes for such a new release. To see all of them, check out JDB’s blog by clicking on our Source link!

We all have our reasons for using Internet Relay Chat, or IRC, whether it is to talk with other developers, using a channel for live conferencing, or to communicate as a global community. Cluster has brought all of that functionality and more into his IRC client for the DS. Anyone using a previous version of this application should (and will likely) update, as v0.05 is said to have fixed many bugs, stability issues, and contain a boatload of new features:
Version 0.05
Keyboard is faster now.
Nick autocomplete on “tab”.
Scrolling acceleration (hold up or down).
Special mode for left handed people.
Distance from keyboard to /me, /join, /nick and /msg buttons increased.
Input history (press X+Up and X+Down to browse it).
/clear command.
Host on join.
Top screen scrolling using stylus.
/ignore command
%ME% variable
Custom timestamp.
Compiled with new libdswifi and libfat.
New default settings.
Many bugfixes.

Different Flashcarts usually give you different methods of browsing, finding, and launching your DS Homebrew. If you don’t like the browser built into your Flashcart, or just want to try a change, you will benefit from kornflexx’s DSKiosk. The best way to desribe the application is “A Homebrew Channel for the DS”. If you’re still confused, this picture should explain why you would use this application:

The ReadMe is in French, but what we can tell you is that this version allows for users to change the background to anything they want, and use custom icons to represent their Homebrew!

If you have links and sources, FTP file transfer can save you a lot of time. It was only a matter of time before someone created a working client for the DS. azaydius has released his first edition of his FTP Client. A note released on the program itself:
You must have your wireless settings saved to the firmware for this to function, done using a retail game. Upon booting the program, a connection is established from the firmware settings.
Usage is pretty simple. The windows are draggable with the touch screen. Swap the ds screens using the control in the upper right hand corner of the touch screen. Change fields for the login credentials by hitting enter, this cycles through the different text boxes and allows you to input from the keyboard. Once everything is entered click connect. From here, navigating the directory structures is simple, double tap on directories to change to them (they are highlighted white). Download files by selecting them on the remote listing, navigate to where you want to download on the local side and simply click the < button. Multiple file download is supported, but be aware the gui freezes while download is running and if the file is large it could take quite some time.
Known bugs:
-Directories containing a large number of files (somewhere around 400+) the program freezes when changing to them
-Upload is broken and the button is disabled, currently trying to determine if it is with the ftplib or based in the dswifi library.
-Handling failed connections is not very elegant. It just hangs. Will be fixed soon. For now, make sure you can connect successfully with other homebrew / retail games!
-Some ftp sites have long welcome messages. We have not yet handled this and it will probably hang if you try to connect to one of these sites.
Features currently under development or that have the possibility of being added:
-Download speeds are pretty slow (~15kbps). You don’t want to download any really large files unless you have a lot of time to spare. So, speeding this up would be great. Would love suggestions on how to do this (once we get the source cleaned up a bit for release)
-A download progress bar is buggy at the moment and therefore disabled, look to see it added later.
-More ftp command functionality, file delete, directory creation, file / directory rename… etc (locally and remotely). Suggestions here are welcomed.

Here is a port of Qub3 for the DS.
Qub3DS is a Nintendo DS port of Qub3D, a tetris like mini-game from Grand Theft Auto IV.
I’ve finally managed to release first version. I haven’t been coding games for ages so it was fun and little break from doing enterprise and Java stuff. I don’t have much experience in game programming, this is actually first game which I’m releasing to public so please be patient.
It uses only one screen, no touch screen input, it’s controlled simply by D-Pad, A and Start. If you weren’t playing the original Qub3D game you’ll have to learn intuitively those non standard game rules.

DSKiosk has been released and updated to ver1.1
DsKiosk is a small application that allows you to run your homebrew programs more easily, and above all, with much more class. The more your collection grows, it becomes more difficult to find your programs scattered all over your SDCard: Between programs that must start from the root, others that require a particular subdirectory, not your organization Personal …
In short, if you dream of having all your homebrew in front quickly, with an interface to fade MoonShell your jealousy, then DsKiosk is for you!
