So in BBC’s bid for console domination they have now teamed up with Nintendo who have announced that the Wii will be getting it’s very own dedicated BBC iPlayer channel. We can expect to be able to get this from 00:01 on Wednesday, November 18.

“We’re pleased that we’ve been able to work with Nintendo to evolve BBC iPlayer on the Wii, providing a faster, high quality and improved viewing experience,” said Erik Huggers, director of BBC Future Media & Technology.

To use the new and improved iPlayer, Wii users can download the Channel from the Wii Shop Channel’s menu screen. Launching it is as easy as clicking on the iPlayer icon and selecting what BBC show or radio program they want to watch.

Will we see more and more company’s streaming to our consoles in the future? Who knows…….

Can you install the wad without the 4.2 update if you want? Also, if I were to get this channel on my American wii, would it work in the U.S. seeing as it is under UK broadcasting?

Not 100% sure it may be blocked in the U.S

OK thanks. I hate that they block the iplayer in America. Stupid.

It’s not stupid, the BBC is funded by the British public via a TV license fee. It’s foolish to expect something for nothing, like you’re asking.
